Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

SSSC Header

Hi everyone, I know its been a while since I blogged – I’ve been super busy making invitations for my son’s wedding! However I am very pleased to be taking part in the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge for August. For this month Jillian Selwood has provided this sketch for us to work with:

When I saw this sketch the squares on it made me think of a “z-fold” card – I have recently done one for a challenge group I am part of so thought this sketch lent itself very well to another one, so this is what I came up with:

I really love the papers in the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper Pack, the colours are gorgeous – the wood effect one is especially nice I think. I decided, of course, that a butterfly is a must on this card – the Butterflies Framelits Dies are a favourite of mine. I also die cut the word “Love” for the inside of the card.

I hope that you like my card for this month’s challenge – click on the next and previous buttons to check out the gorgeous creations my fellow demonstrators have made,

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

SSSC Header

Hi everyone and welcome to another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge blog hop!. For anyone new to my blog this is a challenge that I take part in once a month with some fellow crafters. Usually we are given a sketch to work with, but this month is slighlty different – we have been given four Stampin’ Up colours, definitely a challenge!

These are the colours that have been picked for us:SSSC June

They are lovely colours and I really enjoyed working with them. It took me a while to manage to come up with something using all four colours, but I got there!

I used the Falling Flowers stamp set and it’s coordinating framelits dies, May Flowers. I love this stamp set as there is so much you can do with it. I love the flourish and chose it as a background, along with the smallest flower in the set, for my bold die cut flower.

I really had fun playing around with this stamp set and these colours, I hope you like the end result. My fellow crafters have come up with some amazing projects using these same colours, so make sure that you use the buttons below to go and have a look.

As soon as I saw this sketch I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I have fallen in love with an adorable stamp set called “Love you Lots”, and this cute little frog is just one of the 4 animal stamps featured (you may have to wait for a future blog to see the rest of them!)

I knew that the way this sketch was laid out would be the perfect showcase for this little guy. I decided to go with a blend of old and new – I knew I had some designer series paper left from the retired catalogue that was the perfect match for one of the lovely new colours – Emerald Envy. This colour was not my favourite when I first saw the new colour range, but it was just right for this card.

I always enjoy making a card with several layers, so this months layout was just right for me – and I love the little heart buttons that I had left over from last months catalogue too – this card was a great way for me to showcase some of the new products and use up some of my lovely retired ones. Thank you Keren!

Hi everyone  – welcome to my first blog hop!

The lovely sketch for this month was provided for us
by Karen McDonald:

I love the sketch that we were given for today, it was clean and simple and allowed for me to use some of my favourite stamps and punches.

I chose to mix these beautiful colours together – the Night of Navy ink contrasts so well with the Calypso Coral ink and they both look lovely when teamed up with one of my current favourites, Tip Top Taupe.

The spotty heart stamp from the Hello Life stamp set is very cute – I chose to do the middle heart in Calypso Coral because I wanted to use the Calypso Coral chevron ribbon that has been sitting in my stash for ages! I love the Sweetheart punch – I used some of the lovely paper from the Love Blossoms paper pack, the colour is a perfect match for the Tip Top Taupe card that I used as one of my layers.

I had fun making this card, I hope you have enjoyed it. Thank you to Karen McDonald for providing the lovely sketch for this card. Please click on the links below to check out the lovely cards on the next and previous blogs!

Please note that some of the products I have used will be retiring from Stampin’ Up soon, click here to shop now before they are gone!
