Beautiful You Watercolouring

Hi everyone and welcome to this weeks blog. Today I am featuring a card that I made for a colour challenge group I am part of. Our colours were Stampin’ Up Early Espresso, Peekaboo Peach, Soft Sky and Smoky Slate. These are all beautiful colours but I did find it quite a challenge putting them all together!

I knew I wanted to use the Beautiful You stamp set, it’s high on my list of favourites just now! Once I had decided on my design I decided to incorporate some watercolouring. After a recent class using the watercolouring pencils some of my customers were interested in how to watercolour just using the stamp pads and an aquabrush. So I decided to use this techique and to make a short video demonstrating it.

I used more layers than I would normally on this card in order to use all the colours specified in the challenge, but I really like how it turned out. I also decided to leave it uncluttered and clean looking (I know, unusual for me not to use bling!) -but I did this because I really  wanted the watercolouring to be the main feature.

I really hope you like this weeks project, hop on over to my YouTube video for a closer look at the watercolouring.

Thanks for stopping by,

P.S. Remember we are still in the Sale-a-bration period! This means that for every £45 of Stampin’ Up items you purchase you can choose an exclusive Sale-a-bration item for FREE! Don’t forget to use the Hostess Code when shopping to get extra goodies! You can find it in the sidebar of this post.

Pootler’s Team Sale-a-bration Blog Hop

Hello everyone and welcome to the second Pootlers Blog Hop of the month! I am proud to be a member of a group of crafters and fellow Stampin’ Up demonstrators known as the Pootlers! This time we want to share some of the lovely FREE products that can be gained during the months of January through March. Yes, they are completely FREE with every purchase over £45!

It was hard to choose one product to feature but I decided to go with the Hey Chick stamp set. This wasnt a stamp set that I was instantly drawn to, but as soon as I saw projects made by others with this set it began to grow on me – isn’t this chick super cute?

There are a few characters to stamp in this set but I chose this one, I think its my favourite. Of course, this stamp set also gave me the opportunity to play with the watercolour pencils again, I just love them! I used Daffodil Delight and Calypso Coral pencils, the Calypso Coral matches the Carried Away paper perfectly. These pencils are so easy to use and have such great colours too. I also used these fab papers from the  Carried Away Designer Series Paper pack – also free during the Sale-a-bration period! And I managed to incorporate another favourite of mine in this project – the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies – these have been pn back order but are now back in stock!

I hope you like my project today and I hope you take advantage of this wonderful offer whilst it’s on – remember for every £45 you spend you will earn a FREE product!

Please take time to click on the links below to have a look at all the lovely projects in the other blogs in this hop.

Pootler’s Team Blog Hop

Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog hop of the year! I am really excited today to be joining in the Pootler’s Team Blog Hop! This hop is all about showing some of the amazing new products from the spring/summer catalogue. This catalogue is packed with so many gorgeous goodies that it was so hard to decide which one I wanted to share with you! I showed you the adorable Falling in Love suite last week, so today I decided to go with the stunning Dragonfly Dreams bundle.

This set is so beautiful, but because I love so much in the new catalogue I ended up mixing it up with a whole bunch of other stuff that I love too! The dragonfly itself I coloured with the gorgeous new watercolour pencils and a blender pen. It is so beautifully detailed that I thought the lace doilie went perfectly with it. I have listed at the bottom of this blog all the other products that I have used.

Thanks for stopping by, please use the list below to follow the hop and see the amazing creations my fellow Pootlers have come up with.

Anniversary Gift Box and Card

Hi everyone – I am so happy today to be sharing with you my first project from the brand new Spring/Summer catalogue which went live today!

It full of beautiful stamps, dies, papers and lots of lovely accessories! It was really hard for me to decide what I wanted to play with first, but once my order arrived I quickly made up my mind – the Falling in Love suite is beautiful. It has two beautiful stamp sets, a beautiful intricate die, gorgeous coordinating paper and several other accessories. I love it.

In this project today I have only been able to show you a couple of these lovely goodies, but over the next few weeks I will be showing more!

I used the very pretty heart border punch (from the annual catalogue) to cut the little hearts at the top of the card, and I chose to use the colours that are promoted in the Falling in Love suits. They are Very Vanilla and Blushing Bride, two colours that I feel add to the delicate look of the card. The other colour in the suite is Soft Sky. When I attached the top layer of card to the Blushing Bride underneath, I used dimensionals to really make the beautiful hearts stand out.

After I had made this anniversary card I decided it would be lovely to make a gift box to go alongside it. I made it using the Gift Box Punch Board from Stampin’ Up – if you watch my video below you can see how I made it.

The dimensions for the gift box are 8″ x 8″, and follow the directions on the Gift Box Punch Board for making a 3.25 x 3.25 x 1.75″ box.

For the gift tag you will need:                                                                                                                 One piece of cardstock 4.25 x 2″,                                                                                                                   One piece of cardstock 3.5 x 1 3/8″,                                                                                                             One piece of cardstock 3 3/8 x 1.25

I hope that you have enjoyed this project and my video. Don’t forget that this is Sale-a-bration period, which means that for every £45 you spend in either or both Spring/Summer and Annual Catalogues, you will be able to choose a free product from the Sale-a-bration catalogue! What a great start to the year. If you would like  copy of any of the brochures please contact me on the email address below. Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

Simply Sketched Challenge

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you.  The products used are all available in the current Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!® Catalogues*.  Simply use the buttons at the bottom of the post to keep hopping!

The lovely sketch for this month was provided for us by Amanda Charlesworth:

My first thought was that it was a really challenging design! So I sat at my desk looking through my thinlits and framelits dies when I spied a set I haven’t used for a while, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits and realised they would be perfect for the lovely swirls that Amanda had put in her design. I could also use the great stamp set that comes with it, Swirly Bird.

My next challenge was colours – I really wanted to break away from the colour rut I have been in, I have a few favourite colours that I seem to use all the time so I really wanted to try some completely different colours. In the end I went for Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant, two really pretty colours that I haven’t used for ages.

To be honest I wasn’t completely sure how my card was going to end up looking, but once I had decided on my dies, stamps and colours I just had a play until I came up with something I was happy with.

Thank you Amanda for a great challenge!

I hope you have enjoyed this project, please click the back and next buttons to continue this hop and you will see some great creations!
